i love the look of these natural wooden toys! they are made by a cute little family in boise, id. all the toys are hand crafted from reclaimed or fsc certified hardwood ... sanded then coat with a local beeswax and organic jojoba oil finish.

"I collect second hand tourist guides. Within the century of printed photographs that they contain, I search for plates that have been printed at similar scale, taken from a similar view point.

When I find a near match between book plates, I cut and fold the pages into a new single surface. The dates written on each work give the publication dates of the books I have used. Whichever has been used as the 'base' image is listed first.

The patterns I use to cut the two book pages into one single surface are such that all of both sheets of paper are preserved. If you were to fold all the flaps in or out, the entirety of each image will be seen. The act of folding one image into the other pushes them out into three dimensions in a bulging time ruffle."

past the fiction and romance novels ... and straight for the children's books i go. i can't even remember the last time i read a book that didn't have full page illustrations in it. (i know that's sad).one day i hope to find the time to write a children's book of my own (my bucket list gets longer and longer everyday)

just fell in love

i recently purchased a children's book by carin berger, every illustration is like a work of art. she uses an assortment of cut paper, used clothing catalogs, and old ticket stubs. carin has been awarded the 2006 founder’s award from the society of illustrators, the best of show from 3 x 3 magazine for the children’s book show, and the scandiuzzi children’s book award. her newest book, the little yellow leaf, was named a new york times best illustrated children's book of 2008 ... over all she is an amazing author and artist!

recently i've had a lot of request for postcards ... save the dates and rsvp cards. couples who are tyring to make the whole wedding planning easier on their pocket books. i think it's a great idea for a destination wedding, let's your guest prepare ... not just for your wedding but a relaxing vacation.

Goodbye radio flyer and hello ....

zen wagon! this sleek scandinavian two seater is made out of bent plywood and is something every modern mom needs ... or at least wants. this is currently out of my price range, but i am thinking maybe by the time i have my next kid ... thanks for your beautiful designs scot herbst of kaiku design.
